Luminosa

Large glass cartel in Empire style, with chain and fusée movement. Bevelled glass. 12 columns and frame in polished and gilt brass, satin finish.
Limited edition of 50 pieces.
The chain and fusée movement consists of 1554 pieces assembled by hand. Each of the main elements has a particular function:
- the chain is the connection between the spring-house and the fusée
- the fusée is a torque regulator enabling the driving force of the spring to remain roughly constant.
- the parachute is a safety stopper: it stops the cylinder when a mechanical problem occurs.
Screws in blued steel. Comb with 144 musical notes. The cylinder consists of 3605 pins. Gilt brass, satin finish base-plate with engraved decoration.
Running reserve (length of music when the spring is fully wound) about 27 min. Length of one tune: about 50 sec.

Singing bird boxes

Precious woods, noble metals and sparkling lacquer encase the mechanical movement consisting of about 250 pieces. This is briefly how it works: a small spring-motor-driven pump blows air into a container, which in turn injects it into the whistle. A cam-driven piston slides inside the whistle. Various cams control the movements of the bird, perfectly synchronized with the birdsong.
The miniature bird, dressed in real bird feathers (between 70 and 100 years old), whistles, pivots, opens its beak, flaps its wings and moves its tail for about 10 to 12 seconds before disappearing, as if by magic.
