Tribute to the 125th anniversary of Bulgari and its founder

Around the middle of the 19th century, a timeless concept of elegance was born with Sotirio Bulgari.
Sotirio Bulgari grasped the ferment of his time and, armed with extraordinary skills and talent, set out from Greece for Corfu and then the newly united Kingdom of Italy and the Grand Tour.
Driven by an entrepreneurial audacity capable of overcoming challenges and conventions, he set off on the journey that would take him to the centre of aesthetic sensibility and European high society.
Sotirio Bulgari’s intrepidness overturned numerous stereotypes:  anticipating concepts that are perfectly current today, he took his style directly to the most exclusive locales, continuously redefining the very concepts of “avant-garde” and “luxury.” On the 125th anniversary of its foundation, Bulgari dedicates a watch to this multicultural trailblazer, businessman and aesthete, a watch as extraordinary as the founder of this venerable company.
The new Sotirio Bulgari features a classic style reinterpreted in a contemporary key. A perfect synthesis of innovative design and manufacturing skill, it is distinguished by its sophisticated workmanship and great attention to detail. The new collection dedicated to this man is Bulgari's new version of a formal watch, featuring handmade movements, dials finished with exclusive treatments and a unique design for the watchcase whose crown is distinguished by the absence of the Bulgari logo.

The supreme expression of Swiss watchmaking art, Sotirio Bulgari watches are characterised by their exclusive functions and high quality craftsmanship.
Four versions of the Sotirio Bulgari Date Rétrograde watch are offered instead. The B 89 calibre is an automatic mechanical movement equipped with a 150° retrograde date model, developed and produced by Bulgari.  It was assembled entirely by hand.

B 89 CALIBER

The B 89 caliber is an automatic movement equipped with a 150° retrograde date module developed and produced by Bulgari.

The design and development of this new in-house manufacture module requires 15 specialized craftsmen to perform the 165 different operations needed for its production and assembly, which is done entirely by hand. Great attention has also been given in the selection of the 11 different finishings, including “soleil” and circular “côtes de Genève”, to establish a harmony with the unique design of the dial. Refined treatments like “perlage” and “diamantage” are applied to every component, even the smallest, such as the meticulously polished screw heads. Extensive quality controls are performed at each step in keeping with the strict technical parameters that ensure both the reliability and aesthetic perfection of every movement.
