New combination: Dashboard P´6612 PGC by Porsche Design

The watch manufacturer Eterna will be presenting a new model in its redesigned Dashboard line at the international watch and jewelry exhibition “ Baselworld” (April 3 - 10, 2008). The new P´6612 PGC is the first Porsche Design watch to combine a rose gold case and caoutchouc-coated titanium bezel. Classical, elegant rose gold contrasts with the dynamic, modern watch design. The new P`6612 PGC will be available in Porsche Design Stores and specialist retailers from the autumn of 2008.

Play on colour The new black dial features the typical honeycomb pattern embossed in and a clear layout with white and red accents lending the watch a sporting, dynamic look. The tachymeter scale for speed measurement bears the unique classical Porsche Design typography. The rose gold numerals and indices affixed to the dial are partly coated in white Superluminova, as are the hands, which are pointed for the first time to allow even more precise time reading. The stopwatch hand, minute scale, red Dashboard logotype on the dial, and the chronograph function in contrasting red emphasise this watch’s dynamic look. The three totalisators are framed in rose gold, contributing to the dial’s clear layout. The second dial variation - also in black - sports a significantly more purist and even more masculine appearance with rose gold indices and hands partly designed with black Superluminova. The dial still carries the Porsche Design and “Dashboard” logotype in rose gold, emphasising the harmonious overall appearance of the timepiece. The red stopwatch hand can be clearly seen on the dark background, ensuring excellent readability.

Caoutchouc coating The dial is encircled by a black caoutchouc-coated titanium bezel, emphasising the contrast to the classical elegance of the rose gold case. The caoutchouc coating is fixed to the titanium surface in a special process; pressure, heat and an adhesive substance vulcanise the caoutchouc, chemically binding it to the bezel, giving the most exposed part of the case maximum protection from wear. The rose gold case is polished smooth, while the crown and buttons are sandblasted to a matt finish. The redesigned black natural caoutchouc strap matches the coating on the bezel. The strap’s clasp in rose gold rounds off the new P´6612 PGC’s harmonious design.
Like all Dashboard models, the P´6612 PGC is equipped with a special Porsche Design rotor inspired by the design of a Porsche sporting wheel-rim. The rotor system and the automatic ETA 2894-2 movement can be viewed through the sapphire crystal back enclosed in rose gold.
